Acciavatti, Daniel
State Representative Acciavatti was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2002, representing the 32nd District. Mr. Acciavatti received a Bachelors Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan. Upon graduation, he assumed a role in the business founded by his father, PAMAR Enterprises, a construction firm specializing in heavy road and sewer construction. Prior to his election, Mr. Acciavatti volunteered in his parents' campaigns for local public offices.

Adamini, Stephen
State Representative Adamini has been a practicing attorney for 33 years and is a Senior Partner at Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Chilman & Greenlee, P.C., a Marquette law firm. Representative Adamini graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Amos, Fran
State Representative Amos was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives District 43 in 2002. She graduated from Oakland University where she received the Oakland University Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 1990, and the Outstanding Alumni Service Award from the School of Business in 1985. For her involvement with the School of Business Alumni Association she had a scholarship named after her in 1989. Prior her election to the Michigan House, Representative Amos was an executive with Ameritech and served four terms as an Oakland County Commissioner.

Barclay, Richard
Richard Barclay is the principal State Budget Policy Advisor to the Speaker of the House, and House Republican Policy Office budget policy coordinator for the House Committee on Appropriations. He has been in the House Republican Policy Office since 2003 and the Senate Majority Policy Office since 1985. Dr. Barclay received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University and is a Michigan Level II Certified Assessor. He has been a policy advisor for appropriations, capital outlay, higher education, mental health, public finance, public retirement, taxes, telecommunication, and technology issues.

Bowman, Caroline
Ms. Bowman served on the campaign staff of former US Senator Spence Abraham and as a legislative aide with previous First District Representative Andrew Richner. She graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Political Science and currently handles legislation and scheduling for State Representative Gaffney.

Brown, Rich
State Representative Brown was elected for District 110 in 2001. He is currently assigned to the Corrections, Department of Natural Resources/Environmental Quality, Minority Vice-Chair, and Joint Capital Outlay subcommittees in the Appropriations Committee. He also chaired the Gogebic County Community Mental Health Board from 1988-1999. Representative Brown was elected President of the Michigan Association of County Clerks in 1992 and named Michigan County Clerk of the Year in 1992. He was elected President of the United County Officers Association of Michigan in 1992 and was elected President of the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards in 2000.

Cropsey, Alan
Senator Cropsey is an experienced legislator with over 14 years of serving in the House and Senate. He also is a graduate of Cooley Law School and was a partner in the general practice law firm of Kallman & Cropsey. His emphasis was on educational freedom issues. During his years in the legislature, Senator Cropsey has been a member of numerous committees that include Administrative Rules, Appropriations, Consumer Affairs, Corrections, Education, Judiciary, Labor and Retirement. Daunt, Tony
Tony Daunt is the legislative assistant to Representative David Farhat. A native of Flint, Daunt is a 2001 graduate of Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Prior to joining Farhat's staff, Daunt worked as a staff assistant for U.S. Senator Spencer Abraham in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, he worked for a fundraising organization and he worked as a field representative for the College Republican National Committee on Mark Earley's race for Governor in Virginia. Most recently, Daunt was a legislative assistant for Rep. Marc Shulman, who is the chair of the House Appropriations Committee. Daunt is an avid Red Wings and NASCAR fan and resides in East Lansing.

Davy, Sherie
Ms. Davy has worked with the legislature for the past six years. She began as a producer/videographer in addition to coordinating events such as town hall meetings, conferences, media events and special productions. She has worked for two different legislators serving the Lansing and Detroit districts. During the 2001-02 term, she worked with the Communications Department as a communications analyst/writer.

Gleason, John
State Representative John J. Gleason was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2002 to represent the 48th District. Mr. Gleason served as a Genesee County Commissioner from 1995-2002. During his years of local government service, he has served on all major committees and has been instrumental in the enhancement of Genesee county parks and county roads. Representative Gleason has organized an annual Genesee County Health Fair, which included free health screening for local residents. As Chairman of the Genesee County Economic Development Committee, he was active in working with local businesses and organized labor to keep Genesee County's economy growing.

Hardiman, Bill
State Senator Hardiman was elected to the Michigan Senate in 2002 to represent the 29th District. Prior to his election, Mr. Hardiman served as the Mayor of the City of Kentwood from 1992-2002. He served on the board of directors for the Grand Rapids Transit Authority, Grand Rapids Housing Center, Michigan Municipal league, United Way of Kent County, Spectrum Health Services, Grand Valley Metropolitan Council, Kentwood Foundation, Grand Bank, Crime Victim Foundation, Grand Valley State University Foundation, and Right Place Program. Senator Hardiman received an Associate of Arts Degree from Grand Rapids Community College, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Western Michigan University. Senator Hardiman has received numerous awards and recognitions for his service to the community in the Grand Rapids area, and was appointed by former Governor Engler to the Secchia Commission on Total Quality Government and the Act 51 Transit Committee.

State Representative Hardman received an Associates of Arts Degree from Wayne County Community College and is a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was previously the Health Service Supervisor for the Detroit Job Corps and currently chairs the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. Hopgood, Hoon-Yung
State Representative Hopgood was elected to the 22nd House District in 2002 and was the first Asian-American to be elected to the Michigan House of Representatives. Mr. Hopgood received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1996 and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration from Northern Michigan University in Lansing. Mr. Hopgood received an internship in the Washington, D.C. Office of Congresswoman Lynn Rivers in the summer of 1995 and worked for the Michigan State AFL-CIO as a Labor Coordinator during the 1996 campaigns. In 1997 Mr. Hopgood began work for the House Democratic Policy Staff and joined the legislative office of State Representative Raymond Basham in 1999. Representative Hopgood currently serves on the Education, Energy and Technology and Regulatory Reform committees.

Hummel, Scott
State Representative Hummel was elected to the House of Representatives in a special election held on July 10, 2001. Before this election, Scott was a second-term Clinton County Commissioner, serving as Chairman of the Law and Courts Committee, and as a Board Member of the Tri-County Office on Aging. He received a Bachelors Degree from Michigan State University, majoring in Economics. Employed by General Motors for 24 years, he worked primarily in the Experimental Assembly Department of Vehicle Engineering. Since his election, Hummel has served on five House Standing Committees in the 91st Legislature: Civil Law and the Judiciary (Vice-Chair), Local Government & Urban Policy, Transportation, Insurance & Financial Services and Redistricting and Elections (Vice-Chair).

Hune, Joe
State Representative Joe Hune was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2002 to represent the 47th District. He attended Lansing Community College and Michigan State University, majoring in agricultural business and animal science. An active member of the agriculture community, Representative Hune is a certified weigh master, an agriculture business owner, and a livestock judge. He is also a licensed real estate agent. Representative Hune was hired as a page by the Michigan House of Representatives in 1998. Soon after, he was elevated to a non-partisan position as a journal clerk, under direct supervision of the Clerk of the House. Hune's memberships include the Michigan Association of Realtors, the Livingston Association of Realtors, the Livingston County Farm Bureau, Livingston County 4-H programs and St. Agnes Church.

Koch, Julia
Ms. Koch has worked as a Legislative Aide for State Representative Dennis for over three years and previously five and a half years for former St. Rep. Paul Baade, House District 91. She also worked briefly for Governor Blanchard's office and the Senate Democratic Office in 1990. These years spent resolving constituent problems and reviewing legislation have given her a good grasp of state government and a healthy respect for public service.

Kooiman, Jerry
State Representative Jerry Kooiman was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in the 75th District on November 7, 2000. He was previously the Director of Constituent Services for Congressman Peter Hoekstra (1993-2000) and Staff Assistant for the late Congressman, Paul B. Henry (1985-1992). He was elected to the Kent County Board of Commissioners in 1994 for three terms and served in numerous positions. As a freshman member of the 91st Session of the Michigan Legislature, Representative Kooiman was appointed to the Appropriation Committee and serves on several subcommittees.

LaJoy, Phil
After serving in the Marines for six years, Representative LaJoy came home and earned a degree in business from the University of Detroit. He then worked in the personnel department for the United Parcel Service (UPS), and in 1999, LaJoy and his sons founded a business, called the LaJoy Group. Previously, LaJoy was the owner and manager of five Michigan-based Norrell Service franchises, specializing in helping people find part- and full-time jobs. His many community positions include: Canton Twp. Trustee for 13yrs.; Canton Township merit commissioner; Chamber of Commerce; Lions Club; founder of the Leadership Canton Program; an adult education instructor; member of the Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority; chair of the Community Advisory Council for Saint Joseph Mercy Medical Center, and member of the Canton Township Hall of Fame. A soccer enthusiast, LaJoy has coached boys and girls soccer teams and was president of the Canton Soccer Club. He is also the founder of the Canton Soccer Club Memorial Day Tournament.

Ms. Mande graduated from Lake Superior State University with a B.S. in Political Science and Pre Law, and from Central Michigan University she received her M.S. in Administration and Health Services. Martin, Susan
Ms. Martin is a Legislative Assistant to State Representative Rick Shaffer. She formerly held a position as Deputy Township Supervisor and was a board member of the County Family Independence Agency. Ms. Martin was the Campaign Manager for the State Representative Candidate Winner of the BPW Political Involvement Award. In the U.K., she was a Local Government Officer in Education.

McManus, Michelle
Michelle McManus (R, Lake Leelanau) was elected to the Michigan State Senate in November of 2002. She represents Michigan's 35th State Senate district-the second largest geographically in the state-that includes the counties of Benzie, Clare, Kalkaska, Lake, Leelanau, Manistee, Mecosta, Missaukee, Osceola, Roscommon, and Wexford in northwest lower Michigan. Prior to her election as Senator, she served as State Representative for the 104th District (Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties) from 1993-1999 and in 1999 she was appointed by Governor John Engler to serve as Director of his Northern Michigan Office. Senator McManus is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and chairs the subcommittees for the Department of Natural Resources and Department of Environmental Quality, and serves as the vice chair for the General Government and History, Arts, and Libraries subcommittees. She is also a member of the Senate Finance and Commerce and Labor Committees.

Moolenaar, John
State Representative John Moolenaar was elected to the Michigan House in 2002 to represent the 98th District. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and Chairs the School Aid and Department of Education subcommittee. He also serves on the subcommittees for General Government (Vice-Chair); Departments of Natural Resources and Environmental Quality; and History, Arts, and Libraries. Mr. Moolenaar is a graduate of Hope College, and he received his Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University. Representative Moolenaar previously worked as an administrator at the Midland Academy of Advanced and Creative Services. He also served as director for the Small Business Center that is operated by Middle Michigan Development Center. Prior to his time in Lansing, he has served in many civic positions, including being a member of the Midland City Council and Chairman for the Midland County Republican Party. Olshove, Dennis
Senator Olshove represents Michigan's ninth district. He received his Bachelors degree in Communications from Michigan State University. He served as a Legislative Assistant in the Michigan House of Representatives and as a Michigan State Representative from 1991-1998. Periman, Arika
Ms. Periman currently works for State Representative Pastor as a Legislative Aide and handles legislation in the office and Representative Pastor's committee. She has previously worked with Senator Sanborn as the Director of Communications and for Senator Dunaskiss as Press Secretary and Legislative Aide. Piwowarski, Nathan
Mr. Piwowarski is a native of Cadillac, Michigan and a 2002 graduate of Albion College. He served as the Outreach Director for Senator McManus's electoral campaign. He now serves as the Constituent Relations Aide for the Senator, handling all general constituent casework for the office. Sak, MIchael
Representative Sak represents the 76th district, and he is on the House Appropriations Committee. In addition, he is a member of the State Police and Military Affairs and History, Arts and Libraries Subcommittees. Previously, Michael was elected eight times to the Kent County Board of Commissioners. He has also worked as a teacher and school administrator. Ms. Savic serves as Chief of Staff to Representative Steve Tobocman, managing his legislative agenda, constituent services, and office. She worked as an Assistant to the Mayor for Economic Development to former Mayor Archer, and also as a project manager for the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation. Stahl, John
State Representative Stallworth was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2002 to serve the 82nd District. He attended Macomb County Community College, All Africa School of Theology in Lesetho, and Zion Ministerial Institute. Prior to his election, Mr. Stahl worked at Manter Technologies from 1975 to 1997 and was a manager at Grace Engineering from 1997 to 2002. While studying at Zion Ministerial Institute, Mr. Stahl was a project contractor at the Lesotho Bible Training Institute. Mr. Stahl volunteers his time with the Boy Scouts of America, 4-H and Little League baseball. He is a member of the National Rifle Association and the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners.

Steele, Joseph
Mr. Steele is currently a legislative aide for State Representative John Pastor. He handles numerous communications and constituent issues. Mr. Steele worked as a legislative aide for former State Representative Andrew "Rocky" Raczkowski. He also served as communications director for Raczkowski's campaign for the Unites States Senate in 2002. Mr. Steele worked as a reporter for various newspapers around the state prior to his work with the Michigan Legislature.

State Senator Switalski was elected to the State Senate in 2002 to represent the 10th District and was a State Representative from 1999-2002. Thompson, Randall
Mr. Thompson joined the staff of the Majority Floor Leader's office in 2000 and served as Chief of Staff to Representative Andrew "Rocky" Raczkowski and Campaign Manager for the 2002 U.S. Senate race in Michigan. He was a public speaker for 11 years and was awarded 1st place in the Gil Rau Oratory Competition. Mr. Thompson is now in Representative Dave Robertson's office.

Waters, Mary
State Representative Waters was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2000 to represent the 4th District. Winslow, Justin
Justin Winslow is currently in charge of External Affairs for Senator Shirley Johnson. He also acted as her Campaign Manager and the director of Grassroots Operations during campaign season. Justin is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University, majoring in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. He was recently selected to be a Fellow with the Michigan Political Leadership Program.
