
On November 7, 2000, the people of the 60th District elected Alexander Lipsey to be their voice in the Michigan House of Representatives. Rep. Lipsey serves on the House Civil Law and the Judiciary, Commerce, and Oversight and Operations Committees.
Rep. Lipsey was born November 7, 1950 in Houlka, Mississippi. He has been active in local government and public policy for the past several years. Before being elected to the House, Rep. Lipsey served on the Kalamazoo City Commission and as Vice-Mayor. Rep. Lipsey is also a Bankruptcy Attorney and Trustee in private practice.
A resident of Kalamazoo since 1954, Rep. Lipsey graduated from Kalamazoo College with a bachelor's degree in Physicis. He also has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan. Rep. Lipsey's affiliations include: The Federal Bar Association; Michigan Bar Association; National Bar Association; Past Branch President, NAACP; Elder, North Presbyterian Church and the Kalamazoo/St. Joseph Work Force Development Board.
Rep. Lipsey is married with two children.
